The impact of the ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc in the Philippines is extraordinary and unparalleled. It has grown from a simple grass-roots movement focused on the rescue of abused children. to a complex network of initiatives that has resulted in the return of primary care to their parents and finally the revitalization of entire Communities in which they live.
The Foundation takes a holistic approach towards socio-economic redevelopment. In this tenth year of operations, the Foundation's mission is the total eradication of malnutrition in the country - because it believes that the healthy child is the nucleus of a healthy nation. Bayanijuan is a global campaign that further plays on Tagalog words: "Bayan ni Juan" - which refers to the country of Juan de la Cruz, the Filipino Everyman or "Mga Bayani ni Juan" Juan's heroes. The campaign has launched in the American cities of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York and Washington D.C. and will culminate in a live telethon using the worldwide resources of ABS-CBN TV in Manila and TFC (The Filipino Channel) to link Filipino communities worldwide. This is targeted for February, 2009. To accomplish this, the Foundation is sharing this responsibility with you in the spirit of Bayanihan, or working together. Sama ka na sa Bayanijuan! Join us. |
